Applications will be accepted for U7 to U22 Head Coaches until 11pm, May 27th, 2024 after which head coach selection will begin.

We are forecasting the following number of teams for the 2024-25 HL Season:

U7 2 teams
  U9 3 teams
  U11    3 HL teams     1 DS team
  U13 2 HL teams  1 DS team
  U15 2 HL teams 1 DS team
  U18 4 HL teams 1 DS team
  U22 1 HL team

U7 & U9 Program Staff: Volunteer staff are essential to running our LTPD programs. Before we can hit the ice next season we need staff in place, ready to help in dressing rooms, run practices, and attend to player needs. Those interested in helping with the U7 or U9 Half-ice Programs are asked to simply send an email to Coach Selection Committee with your name, contact information, child's name, role, and if it is your first time with the Ravens as a staff include some background information and date of birth (used to register with OWHA). We hope to have the program staff ready to begin the season in September, so we are asking for anyone interested in the following roles to submit now:
  - Head Coach* (you can complete a team application in the section below or you can just email interest)
  - Trainer**
  - Assistant Coach*
  - On-ice Assistant
  - Staff (Bench Staff, Dressing Room Staff etc; dressing room staff must be female)

*U7 and U9 Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are required to have Coach 1 - Intro to Coach. No other coaching certification is accepted for coaching at this level.
** Trainers are required to have HTCP Level 1. We ask all staff to review the
OWHA requirements and work to complete them prior to the season, but they can be done in the Fall.

Note: U7 is for ages 5 & 6. U9 is for age 7 & 8 players. U9 Rep is a separate program and any staff applications submitted will be forwarded to the U9 Rep coach when team selection is complete for parents with players moving to the U9 Rep team(s). Teams for U7 will be made in November by the head coaches (games start Dec). U9 teams will be made in October (games start Nov).

Note: U7 Program practices will be led by Laura McIntosh. Coaches will assist in running the practices with Laura’s staff and then prepare to run the teams formed for games starting in January. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to enter into coaching and learn from a very experienced coach.

HL Head Coach Applications (U11, U13, U15, U18 and U22): Those interested in volunteering to be a Head Coach for a House League Team are asked to complete an application and submit to the
Coach Selection Committee. The form allows you to add 4 additional staff (adding staff is not required). You may not exceed that amount of additional staff as it makes team formation difficult. The guiding principle for HL programming is even-strength teams. Team formation for all HL teams strives to create balanced teams. U11 to U22 HL teams are created in late September by the Dir of HL and HL Convenor. If you were a coach last season we just require your name, level and staff list.

Development Stream (DS) Head Coach Applications  (U11 DS, U13 DS, U15 DS, and U18 DS): Those interested in being the DS Head Coach for a House League division are asked to complete an application and submit to the
Coach Selection Committee. The form allows you to add 2 additional staff, but they must be non-parent staff. Tryouts for the DS teams are in November with the season starting December 1st. Parent staff may only be added after completion of tryouts.

For the DS teams, WGMHA is looking for a coach to also mentor the division HL coaches, especially at the younger ages. Ideally candidates will:

  • Have Development 1 coaching certification, or higher. Can work towards certification during the season.
  • Willingness to work with all the HL teams in their division. This may include helping coaches create practice plans, assisting at practices, and helping with overall player development.
  • Assist the Dir or HL and HL Convenor in player evaluation in September to create even-strength HL teams.
