On-line Criminal Background Check Service now available

In an effort to protect the youth involved with the Waterloo Girls Minor Hockey, the WGMHA Risk Management Policy requires all volunteers to submit completed Criminal Background Checks (with vulnerable sector search included) for review and filing.  The League reviews all Checks and determines feasibility of a volunteer based on guidelines provided by the Ontario Women’s Hockey League. 

Over the past number of years, WGMHA volunteers have been required to process their individual checks through Waterloo Regional Police (or your specific regional detachment depending on residency).  The Waterloo Regional Police Records Search Unit has provided these reports and will continue to provide these reports at a cost of $10.00 when you produce the letter from the Raven’s on our web site. 

WGMHA is happy to announce another option that will allow all volunteers to get a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search online.  The Waterloo Girls Minor Hockey League has endorsed myBackCheck.com as their official online Criminal Record Check provider.  Not only is it extremely convenient, but this system provides the necessary infrastructure to ensure that coaches, officials, and volunteers are properly and regularly checked.

Additionally, myBackCheck.com allows coaches, officials, volunteers and staff to share the results of their criminal record check with any other organization registered with myBackCheck.com at no further cost.  All it takes is a click of the mouse. 

Steps to Submit for a Criminal Record Check on myBackCheck.com:

1.     Visit the myBackCheck.com website at www.backcheck.net/wgmha

2.     Register for an Account

3.     Once registered, an email will be sent to you to activate your account

4.     Click on the link to activate your account once received by email

5.     Enter the User Name and Password you created when you initially registered with         myBackCheck.com

6.     Enter required personal information

7.     Proceed through the identity verification process

8.     Complete remaining basic steps and finalize

9.     Once finalized, you should receive notification of your completed check within 24 hours

10.  Once shared, the WGMHA will review as per policy.
