Head Injury Prevention Information Night for Parents and Players
March 1, 2011, 7:00 – 9:00 pm - Forbes Auditorium, RIM Park

Objectives

• Provide greater understanding of concussion (nature, cause and incidence)
• Educate regarding outcomes and risk factors associated with sport-related concussions
• Improve care and outcomes through early diagnosis, prompt treatment and appropriate return to play
• Gain an understanding of resources available in Waterloo Region

When you originally registered you were issued a receipt to print and keep for your records.  If you did not keep your receipt you can go back into the registration site
(please put the link that goes directly into the registration site – after all those pages in the registration) and get your receipt for 2011 taxation year.  Hit Profile and then go into the Invoice history.  You can then print your receipt.  If you have difficulty, please contact ravensregistration@rogers.com. 

Please note that receipts for income tax purposes for sporting activities have the following rules that apply:

• activity must be at least 8 consecutive weeks – Rookie Ravens; Goalie Camp; Skills Program all qualify
• camps must be at least 5 consecutive days
• athlete age must be no more than 16 years old in the calendar year that the invoice is paid
• rep fees do not apply
• team fees do not apply

Deadline January 30, 2012

Any amateur hockey team in Ontario can qualify by playing a penalty-free game within the province of Ontario during the contest period. If one team plays an entire penalty free game that team qualifies. If both teams play penalty-free then both teams qualify. All games must be refereed by qualified officials and the game sheet must be signed by at least one of the officials.

All entries are subject to verification by the Penalty Free Sweepstakes Committee. A team may submit an entry for every penalty-free game they play during the contest period. Sweepstakes winners will be drawn at random from the eligible entries received.

The draw will be conducted on Monday February 7, 2011 at the offices of the Hockey Development Centre for Ontario. Winning teams will be notified within fourteen days of the draw if the team has won a sweepstakes prize through their team contact. All league, exhibition, tournament and playoff games played penalty free during the contest period may qualify. Intersquad and novelty games do not qualify.

All entries must be received by 4:00 p.m. Friday February 4, 2011

EVERY PLAYER ON EVERY TEAM SUBMITTING AN ELIGIBLE ENTRY WILL RECEIVE A PENALTY FREE MEMENTO FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM.

(Contest Period: December 3, 2011 - January 31, 2012)

Featuring several components intended to engage visitors at different levels – from science to history to art, the show will allow people to explore their love for and fascination with the game. Exhibits and programs will highlight the physics of the game and physiology of the players; explore the history of hockey and evolution of equipment; offer dozens of hockey related artworks by contemporary artists; and provide many ways for children to interact with displays including recording their own play-by-play and testing their stick handling skills on the ice and the net.  “The show is intended to be a broad look at the game of hockey, which is so ingrained in the Canadian psyche,” explained David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “There is something for everyone – from hockey players to hockey moms to fans of all ages.”

As part of the festival strategy, THEMUSEUM has reached out to several organizations to build additional complementary components for the exhibition, including The Waterloo Region Museum, private collectors showing seldom seen artifacts, The Waterloo Ringette Association and The Kitchener Rangers. The exhibition will also connect to one of THEMUSEUM’s curriculum based education programs, Kids in Motion which promotes a healthy start and lifestyle for grades K-6.  THEMUSEUM staff are also working to secure NHL players, films and a symposium on head injuries.

“Hockey is Canada’s game and everyone has a connection to it somehow,” explains David Marskell, the Chief Executive for THEMUSEUM. “Whether it’s memories of watching games in a cold arena as a kid or celebrating Team Canada’s victory in a crowded basement – hockey just has a unifying affect for Canadians.” And ARENA | The Hockey Exhibition will do that just – bring Canadians together to rediscover their love of the game.
