Danielle Knipping

Danielle started with the Waterloo Ravens in 2004. In Danielle's first season she played
on one of our Peewee House league teams. Danielle continued in our house league
system for the three seasons. In 2007, Danielle moved to our Rep system and was
selected for the Midget C team. Danielle continued with the Midget C team as goalie
until the completion of this past season.
Danielle's passion hockey also saw her play for her high school team at Sir John A Mac
Donald.
Along with playing hockey for both the Ravens and her high school team this year,
Danielle also managed to work part time and maintain an average over 90%. In the
words of Danielle's hockey coach this past season, Kevin Wilson
“I have had the privilege to coach not only a well rounded
hockey player but one of the most mature and dedicated young ladies
I have ever coached. Danielle's self motivation to school was well
known for when our team had hockey tournaments, in between games
she was preparing for projects, tests and exams. I am sure there is
no other person more deserving than Danielle to receive this
scholarship”
At school and her in community, Danielle also excels. She participated in an
International Exchange to France through the Canadian Education Exchange
Foundation. She also finds time to volunteer at her church, helping out in the nursery,
with garage sales, preparing meals, sewing diapers for a mission package and helping
out at a week long Vacation Bible School. She also volunteers at the Rick Hanson Run.
As a member of the Waterloo Raven's community, Danielle not only was a player, she
also volunteered her time setting up for the annual Year End Celebration and assisted at Chelsea Abel's goalie clinic mentoring young goalies.
In the words of Danielle, “ I love hockey and the Waterloo Girls Minor Hockey
Association has given me a chance to play this amazing sport. I love everything about
it: the players, the coaches, the competition and the game.”
In the fall, Danielle will be Attending the University of Waterloo enrolled in the Honours
Kinesiology Co-Op program. On behalf of the scholarship committee I am honoured to
award Danielle Knipping with one of our Ravens Scholarships.
Caitlin Huber

Caitlin started with the Ravens in our 2002-2003 season. In her first year, Caitlin played
on our Atom A team. Caitlin continued in our Rep Program and this past hockey season
with the Captain of our Midget BB team.
Caitlin is an active member of her school community. She is a member of the varsity
field hockey team, ice hockey team and rugby team. Caitlin was named captain and
assistant captain on many of these teams.
In the words of Caitlin's coach “Caitlin is a remarkable young lady as she has the ability
to balance the many things that fill her life. She has wonderful time management skills
and brings her best to everything she does. She is a born leader and is blessed with
maturity beyond her years.”
Caitlin has been an active member of the Ravens Organization. She began
volunteering in our Rookie Ravens program in 2007. During the 2008-2009 season
Caitlin was an assistant coach for an Atom house league team and during this past
season she also was an assistant coach for a Novice house league team. Caitlin has
also volunteered at our annual Fall Challenge Cup Tournament. Caitlin has acquired
both her Speak Out and Level 1 Coaches Certificate.
In Caitlin's words:
“For the past eight years Waterloo Ravens Hockey has been a major
influence in my life. I distinctly remember making the decision to
start playing hockey while watching the Canadian Women's hockey
team win gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.. My passion for
hockey was ignited and I was very fortunate that the Waterloo Ravens
provided an opportunity for me to play hockey. My experience of
coaching Ravens hockey for the past three years has given me the
opportunity to share my passion for the game and hopefully be a role
model for young girls just starting their hockey adventure. Hockey
will always be a part of my life and I will always carry with me my
experiences playing for the Waterloo Ravens.”
In the fall Caitlin will be attending the University of Waterloo in Chemical Engineering.
She plans to specialize in either parmaceutical or biotechnical studies. Her goal is to
play varsity hockey and continue coaching.
On behalf of the scholarship Committee, I am honoured and proud to award Caitlin
Huber with a Raven's Scholarship.
